🔶 Disruption to flights at Riyadh airport after Houthi missile attack
After missile attacks by the Houthis on Thursday on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and the killing of three citizens of this country, including a commercial aircraft pilot, cancellations and suspensions of international flights to Riyadh have begun.
Despite efforts to normalize conditions, Lufthansa announced that it will suspend all its flights to the Saudi capital until October 16. Air India and Pakistan International Airlines have also reported the suspension of their flights to Riyadh.
According to published figures, on Friday, October 9, at least 103 inbound and outbound flights at the Saudi capital’s airport were canceled. This compares with 335 flights canceled on Thursday, indicating a relatively easing of the crisis and the airport’s efforts to return to its normal flight schedule.
Houthi militias backed by Iran have warned that all airports and oil facilities in Saudi Arabia are considered military targets.
In response, the Saudi-led military coalition announced that it has destroyed three Houthi missile launch platforms.
