Diesel prices in European markets fell by about 6% following talks among leaders of the European Union to release 50 million barrels of fuel reserves.
Diesel prices in the EU’s wholesale markets are currently about $1.36 per liter.
Earlier, Reuters reported that European leaders plan to release 50 million barrels of their diesel reserves, and that members of the International Energy Agency will also put an equivalent amount of their crude oil reserves into the market to lower energy prices.
Benchmark Brent crude oil fell 2.3% on Friday to below $100.
