Despite Iran and Oman’s announced agreement over a shipping traffic map in the Strait of Hormuz, disagreements over the implementation of this agreement are still ongoing, and no joint statement has yet been issued by the two countries.

At the same time, the United States has emphasized the continuation of Iran’s maritime blockade, and U.S. officials have said that new sanctions and economic pressures against the Islamic Republic will be imposed in the coming week.
