🔶 Death toll rises in suicide attack on police headquarters in Pakistan
A senior Pakistani police official said on Saturday, 28 Shahrivar (19 September), to Agence France-Presse that as a result of a suicide and armed attack on a police headquarters in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in the north of the country, at least 31 people were killed, including 16 police officers, and more than 100 others were injured.
According to a report by Agence France-Presse, the attack began on Friday afternoon, 27 Shahrivar (18 September), and the clashes continued on Saturday as well.
The police official, who asked not to be named, told Agence France-Presse that several attackers were still taking shelter in the “Special Administration” section of the Kohat police complex, and that an exchange of fire with them has continued since the late hours of the previous night. According to him, the exact number of attackers is not yet known.
