🔸 Death sentence for Rasoul Rezaei, one of the detainees in the protests of Dey, was confirmed

The Supreme Court of the Islamic Republic confirmed the death sentence of Rasoul Rezaei, a citizen of Torbat-e Jam and one of the detainees in the Dey 1404 protests. This jailed protester is currently being held in Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad.

Hana, the news agency of the group of human rights activists in Iran, reported on Sunday, August 9 (18 Mordad), that Rezaei had previously been sentenced to death for “enmity against God (moharebeh)” by one of the branches of the Revolutionary Court in Mashhad.

Hana added that, as of the time of preparing its report, it had not obtained information about the instance of the charge of “moharebeh” on the basis of which the death sentence for Rasoul Rezaei was issued, and its reviews for obtaining more information on this matter

Marzieh Mahboobi, a legal expert familiar with this case, while confirming this news and pointing to the arrest of this protester on January 19, 1404, by security forces, told Hana that Rasoul Rezaei “has also been deprived of the right to access his chosen lawyer and to contact and meet with his family since the time of his arrest.”
