CNN, in a report, wrote that the battle for control of the Strait of Hormuz has become a main axis of the war for Iran, and that the United States, by expanding its naval presence, has placed itself in a superior position; a situation, according to the network, that shows the Islamic Republic has lost part of its control over this waterway.

Based on data from the company Kepler, more than 80 percent of ships have passed through the route via Oman in the past two weeks; a route that the Islamic Republic opposes. Despite attacks by Tehran on some vessels, most ships continue to use this route, relying on the protection of the U.S. Navy.

Citing experts, CNN wrote that reduced traffic along the route favored by the Islamic Republic has limited Tehran’s ability to collect tolls from ships. The report also referred to negotiations between Oman and the Islamic Republic regarding passage through the Strait of Hormuz, and added that the U.S. opposes any agreement that would allow Tehran to exercise control or collect tolls.
