CNN wrote in a report that one of the intelligence unit officers of the “U.S. Central Command” (CENTCOM), in a message sent on Wednesday to a broad group of military analysts, wrote: “We are looking for new, creative and unconventional ways to exert pressure and punish the Iranian government.”

In the report, citing an informed source, it says that making such requests via email is considered unusual and “shows how limited” the options are for Donald Trump to compel the Islamic Republic to accept a deal on terms that he sets.

The source said: “This initiative is a kind of collaboration and crowdsourcing aimed at finding an alternative solution and reconsidering the strategy being pursued.”

According to sources, this email was sent before Trump’s recent threat to carry out new attacks against Iran; attacks that were ultimately canceled after intervention by regional officials, including Saudi Arabia’s crown prince, and a request to reduce tensions.
