🔺Claims by Iran’s Minister of Agriculture About Food Security Despite 128% Inflation
▪While Iran’s Statistical Center has reported that point-in-time inflation for foodstuffs at the end of Tir (late July), stands at 128.1%, the Minister of Agriculture Jihad claims that “the country’s food security works like a well-ordered clock.”
▪Gholamreza Nouri Gazlaje claimed that the prices of most essential goods and food items are going down compared to the past week and compared to the previous month.
▪The Minister of Agriculture Jihad of the Islamic Republic also claimed that “prices in markets such as sugar, sugarcane, flour, and oil are not an issue; even lower than the price set by the Organization for Consumer Protection.”
▪The claim was made while a review of price growth of essential goods over the past year shows a significant increase in the prices of some of these commodities.
