CENTCOM: We successfully brought to an end a heavy wave of attacks against targets in Iran in response to the Islamic Republic’s missile attacks.

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said its forces at 10 p.m. Eastern Time on July 29 successfully concluded a heavy wave of attacks against targets in Iran.

According to a CENTCOM statement, the attacks were carried out in response to the Islamic Republic’s efforts to launch a missile attack on U.S. forces the day before, and targeted dozens of targets belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, including military command centers, missile and drone facilities, monitoring and coastal defense sites, as well as naval capabilities.

CENTCOM said the aim of these attacks was to further reduce threats posed by the Islamic Republic and its proxy forces against U.S. forces, commercial shipping, and the Gulf Persian neighboring countries.

The statement added that on July 28, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces fired several ballistic missiles from Iran toward U.S. forces deployed in the Middle East, but all of these missiles were intercepted and destroyed.

CENTCOM also emphasized that more than 50,000 U.S. military personnel are currently deployed in the Middle East and are at the highest level of operational readiness.
