CBS News, citing three sources, reported that Ukraine is ready to sign a deal with the United States regarding drone defense. Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, is prepared to sign the agreement on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, but finalizing it may be postponed to another time.

According to this report, the U.S. Department of Defense and the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense have drawn up a framework to expand the testing and production of Ukraine’s defense technologies in the United States.

CBS News wrote that Iran’s war has increased the importance for the United States and its allies of cooperation with Ukraine’s defense industries. The Islamic Republic used Shahed drones to attack U.S. military installations in the Middle East, and Ukraine also provided intercepting drones and pilots to help with their deployment.

Ukraine has also signed defense agreements with Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. Zelensky said Ukraine intends to produce 10 million drones this year.

Experts told CBS News that Ukraine’s experience shows that, in addition to drone technology, software, operators, and the ability to adapt equipment to new conditions are also important.
