CBS News, citing U.S. officials, reported that despite remarks made last night by Donald Trump, the U.S. president, that negotiations with the Islamic Republic were set to begin on Monday afternoon, no “new negotiations” or different talks are planned.

According to the report, only the same ongoing discussions are being held between Steve Witkoff, Trump’s special envoy for the Middle East, Jared Kushner and the American negotiating team with representatives of the Islamic Republic, through intermediaries.

Ismail Baqaei, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic, said in a press conference on Monday that Tehran has no plan to hold direct talks with Washington—a remark that angered Trump. In a post on Truth Social, the U.S. president referred to the leadership of the Islamic Republic as “Doro.”
