CBC News reported that with the war led by the United States against the Islamic Republic entering its sixth month, the government of Donald Trump, the U.S. president, is releasing less information about the course of the war, while the costs of operations continue to rise.

According to the outlet, more than 50,000 U.S. soldiers are still deployed in the Middle East, about 18 U.S. service members have been killed, and hundreds have been injured.

At the same time, Trump has repeatedly tried to advance diplomacy with Iran, and the administration has asked Congress for an additional $67 billion in budget to continue operations.

CBC News added that Pentagon press briefings have effectively been halted since the beginning of May, and lawmakers from both parties say access to accurate war reports has become difficult.

The outlet wrote that the White House is relying more than before on Trump’s statements and messages on social media, and that details related to troop movements, war casualties, and damage are rarely published.

According to CBC News, this lack of information has led reporters, lawmakers, and public opinion to rely on scattered reports to understand the course of the war.
