🔻Canadian poet, essayist and translator Anne Carson won this year’s Nobel Prize in Literature.
The 76-year-old Carson is recognized for works that blur the line between poetry, fiction and academic studies.
The Nobel Committee said it selected Anne Carson “in recognition of her bold and inventive body of work, which has created new forms for contemporary literature through a witty and lively dialogue with the classical tradition.”
The Nobel Prize is awarded to honor a lifetime’s body of work and achievements in professional activity, and is considered the most prestigious prize in world literature.
The winner receives 12 million Swedish kronor, equivalent to about 1.2 million dollars.
Carson has also translated works of ancient Greek literature and has taught as a professor of classical literature for more than 30 years.
