▪Flávio Bolsonaro, a right-wing senator and ally of President Donald Trump, received the most votes in the first round of Brazil’s presidential election and, together with Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the current president, moved on to the second round. At the same time, Bolsonaro’s party also achieved significant gains in the congressional election.
