🔸Bloomberg, citing oil-tanker tracking data and information from the company Vortexa, reported that the Gulf of Kutch in the Indian state of Gujarat has become one of the alternative destinations for ship-to-ship transfer of Persian Gulf oil.

🔸According to this report, two very large crude carriers have recently transferred their cargoes in this area to other very large tankers that are now headed to East Asia. At least two other tankers are also carrying out similar operations.

🔸Bloomberg says this is the first transfer of cargoes of Persian Gulf oil to an East Asia destination in this region since the start of Iran’s war.

🔸Vortexa says a complete transfer of a supertanker’s cargo to another tanker now takes five to six days, and this congestion has become one of the most important factors behind delays in regional oil exports.

🔸An increase in the number of tankers, delays in transferring cargoes, and longer routes for some ships have also sharply raised the cost of transporting oil. Bloomberg says the daily charter cost of a supertanker has now exceeded one million dollars per day.
