Behrouz Safi, the head of the Tehran travel agencies trade association, said he is aware of the shutdown of a large part of travel agencies across the country and stated that, based on initial assessments, the recent war and its consequences have caused losses of nearly two thousand billion tomans to these offices.

Safi said in an interview with ISNA on Friday, 31 Mordad, that about six thousand licensed agencies have been registered in the country, but probably only one-sixth of them will continue operating.

According to him, the severe slowdown in the market has caused travel agency licenses to be bought and sold at low prices.

Referring to the continuation of war conditions in the country, he said travel agencies have been struggling with a slowdown for more than a year, and during the recent war their operations were completely halted.

The head of the trade association of travel offices in Tehran Province considered war conditions and price increases to be the reasons behind the decline in travel, and warned that until stability returns to the country, people will not resume their trips.

According to Safi, concern about the intensification of clashes and the closure of routes has deterred many citizens from traveling, especially traveling abroad.
