The return of Behnam Mortazavi, a singer and violinist, to Iran has once again sparked discussion about artists returning to the country and has provoked differing reactions.
Mr. Mortazavi had denied his return two days before the release of images showing his arrival in Tehran. He then posted a video on the 8th of Mehr showing him coming down the steps of an airplane and kissing the ground of Iran.
Behnam Mortazavi is not the first artist whose return to Tehran after Israel and the United States’ war with Iran has become a talking point. Before him, Kayser and Mohsen Namjoo also returned to Iran.
Some users have referred to the positions of these two artists—both of whom had announced their opposition to the war—and asked whether their stances had had any effect on how easy it was for them to return to the country or not.
