🔶 Baqaei: In the face of the ongoing U.S. aggression, we consider ourselves entitled to defend ourselves
The spokesperson of Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs says that the United States’ military and economic actions and its naval blockade against Iran are part of the ongoing “aggression” by Washington, and that Tehran considers itself entitled to defend itself as long as this situation continues.
Ismail Baqaei, in an interview with Al Jazeera, rejected characterizing the current situation as a confrontation between Iran and the United States.
He said: “We have defended ourselves. We have defended Iran against the United States’ military aggression; aggression that is continuing even to this point.”
Baqaei added that Washington’s economic measures and what he called a “blockade” are part of this same aggression against Iran. The spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Tehran, in accordance with Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, has the right to defend itself.
He emphasized: “As long as their military aggression continues, we have no alternative but to defend the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of our country.”
