Badr Abdelatty, Egypt’s foreign minister, and Badr bin Hamad al-Busaidi, Oman’s foreign minister, during a meeting on the sidelines of the ASEAN summit, condemned the Islamic Republic’s repeated violations against the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

The Egyptian foreign minister emphasized his country’s full solidarity with the Gulf countries and said that the repeated attacks by the Islamic Republic constitute a clear violation of the sovereignty of states and a serious threat to regional security and stability.

Badr Abdelatty stressed the importance of immediately stopping all actions that escalate tensions and putting an end to any steps that would increase the crisis, expand the scope of the conflict in the region, or threaten the security of countries.

The two countries’ ministers also discussed the importance of preserving freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz in accordance with the rules of international law, and emphasized the necessity of ensuring the security and safety of international navigation and preventing the creation of any obstacles to the movement of ships.

Egypt and Oman rejected any attempt to impose restrictions on passage and navigation in international waterways due to their negative consequences for the global economy and energy security.
