👈 Axios: Trump is considering three different approaches toward Iran
Axios, citing U.S. officials, claimed that “Scott Bessent,” the U.S. Treasury secretary, “John Ratcliffe,” the director of the CIA, and “Marco Rubio,” the country’s secretary of state, have advised Trump to continue the campaign of economic pressure on Iran.
Informed sources whose names were not disclosed told the website that Ratcliffe told Trump that “long-term economic suffering” either would force the Iranian government to grant more concessions or would create enough internal instability in the country for people’s uprising.
The second approach, proposed by “JD Vance,” Trump’s vice president, and “Steve Witkoff,” his special representative for West Asia affairs, suggests a diplomatic agreement with Iran and warns that renewed military adventurism may not help improve the situation. Most Gulf states support this approach.
The third approach is also proposed by “Benjamin Netanyahu,” the prime minister of the Israeli regime, and “Pete Hegseth,” the U.S. defense secretary. It calls for the resumption of military operations against Iran and claims it is not possible to trust Iran to negotiate or to comply with an agreement.
