🚨🚨 Axios: The U.S., Iran, and Oman are nearing a 60-day interim agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, and Washington intends to announce it on Wednesday.
Under this agreement, inbound ships from the northern route in waters of Iran and outbound ships from the southern route in waters of Oman would transit with coordination with Iran, and no fees would be charged.
In addition, naval mines in the central route would be cleared over 30 days, after which the route would be reopened for two-way traffic.
Qatar, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia also took part in the mediation, and the White House was directly involved in the talks.
Abbas Araghchi had given initial approval to this framework, and according to U.S. and regional sources, Mojtaba Khamenei and Iran’s Supreme National Security Council also approved it on Tuesday. #𝐄
