👈Axios reported that the Lockheed Martin company has unveiled its new PAC-3 ACE interceptor missile; a product developed to respond to rising demand for air defense systems, reduce production costs, and counter threats such as drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles.

According to this report, the cost of each PAC-3 ACE interceptor is estimated at about $2 million and less than half the current PAC-3 MSE model. The missile, which can be used in existing Patriot launchers, will make its first flight in 2028. Axios also reported on the Pentagon’s and the U.S. defense industries’ efforts to develop cheaper air-defense systems, including low-cost drone interceptors, in order to increase production capacity and reduce defense spending.
