Axios news site reported that John Ratcliffe, head of the Central Intelligence Agency of the United States, during his secret trip to Moscow, proposed a three-way meeting among Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin, and Volodymyr Zelensky to end the war.
Based on statements by informed sources, Ratcliffe’s trip was, in part, to assess whether the heads of Russia’s intelligence services could persuade Putin to resume negotiations with Ukraine through U.S. mediation.
U.S. officials on Friday briefed Zelensky on Ratcliffe’s talks in Moscow and the proposal for a three-way meeting.
Russia-Ukraine negotiations mediated by the U.S. government have been suspended since mid-Bahman and after the start of the war with the Islamic Republic.
