Axios, citing its reporter Barak Ravid, writes that Donald Trump, the president of the United States, says that he is on the verge of making an important decision about resuming broad attacks against Iran.

According to Axios, in a phone conversation with Mr. Ravid, Donald Trump said: “I have a big decision ahead of me. Whether I want to take action and destroy them [the Iranian regime] or not? This is a big decision. There are all possibilities.”

The remarks are being made as the U.S. president is scheduled to meet with leaders of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman on Tuesday on the sidelines of a session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York—a meeting that is expected to have the future of the dispute with Iran as its main focus.

Mr. Trump says he intends to use the meeting to assess the positions of the Gulf countries before determining his next steps.

He told Barak Ravid: “I want to know what condition they (the Gulf countries) are in. We have always been their supporter and protector.”
