🔸Austria’s police are looking for two men who are said to have stolen a platinum necklace adorned with diamonds, which had been custom-made for Queen Nazli, the mother of Fawziyeh and the first wife of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, from the Museum of Applied Arts in Vienna.

🔸The necklace is more than 200 carats and has 673 diamond pieces, and Queen Nazli wore it at her daughter’s wedding ceremony to Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the then Heir Apparent of Iran, in 1939.

🔸The value of the necklace, which was made by the jewelry house “Van Cleef & Arpels” and had been loaned to the Vienna museum, is estimated at between $4.3 and $5 million.

🔸Made for the former royal family of Egypt, the necklace was sold in 2015 at Sotheby’s New York auction for $4.3 million.

🔸According to Austrian police, two men whose images were also released entered the Museum of Applied Arts in Vienna on Thursday afternoon after buying tickets, and then, after breaking the display case, stole the necklace.

🔸Following the theft, the Vienna Museum of Applied Arts temporarily closed the temporary exhibition “Masterpieces,” where the necklace had been kept.
