At least 7,000 US troops are currently stationed in Poland, Polish Deputy Defense Minister Cezary Tomczyk told the RMF FM radio station.

The politician sidestepped a reporter’s question about returning the number of US troops in the country to 10,000. Tomczyk noted that in recent years this figure has ranged from 6,000 to 10,000.

The deputy defense minister also said that Washington has preliminarily chosen a site for its permanent military base in Poland. The final decision on the base will be made by Prime Minister Donald Tusk, Tomczyk added.
