Associated Press, citing “a regional official involved in mediating efforts” between Tehran and Washington, wrote that diplomacy is underway and that a pause in U.S. attacks and in the Islamic Republic’s reciprocal attacks on neighboring countries hosting American forces “is a positive sign that helps efforts to reduce tensions.”
He added that both the United States and the Islamic Republic want to return to a temporary ceasefire agreement.
The official, who was not authorized to discuss the matter and spoke on condition of anonymity, said the compromise currently being negotiated focuses on allowing ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz with fewer restrictions from Tehran.
