Asian stock markets were hesitant on Monday and oil prices fell, while investors were waiting for details of the U.S. sanctions against the Islamic Republic.

Brent fell by 1.5% to $93.02; after rising 6.6% last week. U.S. crude also dropped by 1.6% to $85.64.

Gold rose by 1.1% to $4,653 per ounce. This metal has increased by more than 15% so far this month, and if that gain remains through the end of the month, it would be the largest monthly increase recorded.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is set to outline these sanctions on Monday at a press briefing. The Islamic Republic has not shown any sign of relinquishing its control over the Strait of Hormuz so far.
