With military tensions in the region escalating, the defense and war ministers of Saudi Arabia and the United States, during a phone conversation on Thursday, the ninth of Mehr, reviewed the latest developments and discussed strategic defense cooperation.
Khalid bin Salman wrote on the social media platform X that he spoke with Pete Hegseth about defense relations between the United States and Saudi Arabia and also about coordinating efforts to strengthen regional security.
According to him, several regional and international issues of shared interest were also raised in the call.
The conversation took place amid military tensions between the Islamic Republic and the United States, as well as attacks by the Houthi rebels, supported by the Islamic Republic, on Saudi Arabia’s civilian infrastructure.
Earlier, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio had also announced that Washington remains committed to its defense agreement with Saudi Arabia.
