🔻As Israel gets closer to the Oct. 27, 2026 election, Gadi Eisenkot, the former chief of staff of the Israeli army, has become one of Benjamin Netanyahu’s most important challengers. New polls report growing public support for his new party called “Yashar.”

Several polls, including a poll by Israel’s Channel 12, a centrist network, have shown that the “Yashar” party has surpassed the Likud party led by Benjamin Netanyahu as well as the opposition party “Yahad”; a party that is jointly led by Naftali Bennett, the former right-wing prime minister, and Yair Lapid, a centrist politician. These results point to Eisenkot’s growing influence and appeal among different political groups.

Liberal and centrist media have presented Eisenkot as being at odds with Netanyahu and have praised what they describe as his “restraint, honesty, and authenticity.”
