🔻 A group of armed men in Nigeria raided a Friday prayer ceremony and abducted several worshippers from a mosque in Niger State in central northern Nigeria.

According to police, the attackers on Friday at around 2:00 p.m. local time, after attacking the villages of Gidan-Zana and Kpenya, attacked the Kpenya mosque in the Dakara area.

Vasiu Abiodun, the police spokesperson, said: “Further reports indicate that no one was killed in the incident, and a security unit has been deployed to the area to assess and rescue the worshippers.”

The police spokesperson also said he was unable to confirm the exact number of abductees.

According to Reuters, local residents said that in the attack, which appeared to be coordinated, more than 60 worshippers were abducted at the same time in Dakara and three other areas.
