An oil tanker was targeted by an unidentified projectile as it entered the Persian Gulf via the Strait of Hormuz, and two of its crew members were injured.

The UK Maritime Trade Operations Center said on Monday that the tanker was continuing its journey under its own power toward its destination port, and that no environmental damage had been reported so far.

The center said authorities are investigating and asked vessels to pass through the strait with caution and report any suspicious activity.

In recent months, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has repeatedly attacked passing ships on the pretext of gaining control of the Strait of Hormuz.
