An American Fox News network analyst, Paul Mauro, says officials should investigate whether the Islamic Republic had a role in the attack on the Dubai-to-Tel Aviv flight.

Mauro, a former intelligence official for the New York Police Department, said the violence that occurred in the cockpit was “almost certainly” an attack and “possibly” a “jihadist incident.”

The flight carried 174 passengers, 27 of whom were children. Israeli media said that about 150 of the passengers were Israeli.

Donald Trump, the president of the United States, on Wednesday, October 8, said he spoke with Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel, about the security incident involving the Emirates-Israel flight.

Mr. Trump said it appears the co-pilot was a “terrorist” or “madman.” He said the co-pilot attacked the pilot, and the pilot was able to open the cabin door. Mr. Trump explained that, according to Benjamin Netanyahu, an Israeli plumber—someone who had not piloted before—ran toward the cockpit, threw the co-pilot back, took control of the aircraft’s controls, and prevented the plane from crashing by reducing altitude at speed.
