🔻Ahmadreza Haeiri, an Iranian civil and human rights activist, became one of five winners of the 2026 human rights award by “Front Line Defenders.”
The award is given every year to a number of activists who, due to their activities, are at risk.
In the award statement, Mr. Haeiri is introduced as a defender of human rights and an anti-death-penalty activist who has devoted his life to defending the dignity and fundamental rights of others.
Ahmadreza Haeiri was recently released from prison after the end of his sentence, which lasted more than three years. He was held in prisons in Tehran’s Evin and Karaj’s Ghezal Hesar, and he was never allowed to take furlough.
