Ahmad Moradi, a member of the Energy Commission of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s parliament, said that lawmakers’ view is that at the current juncture the price of gasoline should not be increased, because people’s resilience in the face of price hikes is limited and raising the price of gasoline could create a new wave of inflation.

Moradi said: “The view of the lawmakers is that there should be no increase in the price of gasoline at this time, because people’s resilience in the face of price hikes is limited and raising the price of gasoline could create a new wave of inflation.”

He also said that comparing fuel prices in Iran with those in other countries is incorrect and said: “In such a comparison, one must also consider the level of people’s income, the quality of cars, and the state of public transportation.”
