Ahmad Alavi, a university professor and economist, referring to the remarks by Massoud Pezeshkian, the head of the government of the Islamic Republic, about increasing the price of the third ration of gasoline, said that the ruling authority and the government are in a state of “indecision,” and that ambiguity about the timing and how this policy will be implemented increases economic uncertainty.

Alavi added that raising the price of gasoline could intensify discontent and, if conditions are in place, lead to a “social uprising.”
