According to Israeli media, Neria Leiter, the son of Israel’s ambassador in the United States, was severely injured in a car attack at a checkpoint in the West Bank, and his condition has been reported as critical.

Yehiel Leiter, Israel’s ambassador to the U.S., who was supposed to accompany Benjamin Netanyahu on his trip to the United Nations General Assembly, changed his plans, returned to Israel on Thursday morning, and went to the hospital.

The Israeli army said its forces killed the attacker at the scene of the attack.

Following the attack, the command of the 98th Division in the West Bank activated to increase operational capability. Doctors said that after undergoing several hours of brain surgery, Neria Leiter remained in a very critical condition and his life is in danger.
