According to information provided by an informed source to Iran International, Mahboobeh Sha‘bani, a political prisoner, has been on a hunger strike after being transferred from the “Aramesh” ward of Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad to the prison’s quarantine ward since mid-Tir, without any explanation being given.

She has gone on a hunger strike in protest at the unfavorable conditions in the prison and the uncertain status of her court case.

According to this information, Mahboobeh Sha‘bani has developed a skin disease due to the poor and unhygienic conditions of the quarantine ward of Vakilabad Prison.

Iran International had previously reported that, given the charges raised in her case, Mahboobeh Sha‘bani faces the risk of being sentenced to death.
