〰 According to Axios, Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law, met with Hamas leaders in Egypt today to push for specific steps toward disarmament and non-militarizing Gaza. This was his first meeting with the Hamas leadership since the October agreement to end the war.

Kushner attended the meeting together with Nikolai Mladenov and Tony Blair, while Khalil al-Hayya, the political leader of Hamas, along with Hassan Rashad, the head of Egyptian intelligence, Ali al-Duwadi, a Qatari diplomat, and a senior Turkish official, participated.

The talks focused on transferring authority to a Palestinian technocratic government, removing Hamas weapons and military infrastructure from service, deploying Israeli security forces, and ensuring that Hamas will not have a role in governance in the future. In exchange for progress on disarmament, the peace delegation asks Israel to carry out the relevant pullbacks and to accelerate humanitarian aid.

Kushner is expected to meet with Netanyahu in Israel on Monday to discuss these Israeli steps.
