According to a report by The Times of Israel, the police and the Shin Bet announced that in the past few weeks they have detained another Israeli citizen on suspicion of spying for the Islamic Republic.

In a joint statement by the two agencies, the suspect, “Mohammad Khalaf,” 25, and a resident of the city of “Baqa al-Gharbiya” in northern Israel, was identified.

Khalaf is accused of contacting Iranian agents and carrying out missions for them in return for “tens of thousands of shekels.”

According to these agencies, a case indictment is set to be issued today at the Haifa District Court against him on charges of harming the country’s security.

Over the past two years, Israel has arrested dozens of people on suspicion of carrying out actions for Iran in exchange for payment.

Suspects typically make their first contact with Iranian agents through social networks, especially the Telegram messaging app.
