Abdolrahman Boroumand Human Rights Foundation in Iran wrote on the social media platform X that the Islamic Republic has carried out at least 916 death sentences since the beginning of 2026, with 15 of them carried out in the current month.

The human rights organization emphasized: “The actual number of executions is likely much higher, because the Iranian government hides the real figures of executions in order to prevent exposure, international monitoring, and public reaction.”

The foundation also wrote that many protesters are facing serious charges and a grave risk of being sentenced to death, and added that the process of issuing these rulings has been hasty, unfair, and without observing the principles of fair trial.

Abdolrahman Boroumand Human Rights Foundation in Iran emphasized that the Islamic Republic uses issuing and carrying out death sentences as a tool to intimidate society and prevent the formation of new protests.
