Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s foreign minister, says that his country is still exchanging views with the United States through Qatar and Pakistan.
Mr. Araghchi, who spoke on Tuesday in an interview with Iraq’s Al Ekhbariya network, also stressed: “The Strait of Hormuz is not an international strait; rather, it is located in Iran’s and Oman’s territorial waters. The waters of this strait are not international waters.”
The Iranian foreign minister told Al Ekhbariya that Tehran and Muscat have reached agreement on the details of the movement of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz: “A specific map about these routes has been prepared, and their geographical coordinates have also been determined and drawn. Therefore, if one day the Strait of Hormuz is to be opened, the route that Iran and Oman have agreed on will be the real and agreed route for the passage of ships; not some other route.”
Speaking about negotiations with the United States with the aim of ending military conflict, Mr. Araghchi said that Tehran is still in contact and talks with the United States through Qatar and Pakistan.
