A video today (October 2) was shared on social media in which the pilot of a flight from Tehran to Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, announces that this flight has been canceled and that the aircraft is returning to Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport while in flight.

In the video, the pilot of the flight, operated by Warsh Airlines, says that the flight is canceled because “the neighboring countries of Tajikistan did not allow us to fly through their airspace,” and that passengers will be transferred to the departure airport in Tehran.

Flight tracking data from the FlightRadar24 website shows that the Tehran–Dushanbe flight by Warsh Airlines took off from Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport on Thursday, October 2, and after one hour and eight minutes of flight, it landed again at the same airport.

Majid Aghahān, the spokesperson for the Civil Aviation Organization of Iran, told ISNA news agency that the reason for canceling this flight was that “Turkmenistan did not issue permission for Iranian airlines to pass through its skies,” and that the flight returned to Tehran.

Reports indicate that all flights today by Iranian airlines to the United Arab Emirates have also been canceled.
