A Russian army kamikaze drone hit the Turkish company-owned cargo ship “Mariam E.M.” on Thursday while it was navigating the Danube Delta waterway, near the joint border of Ukraine and Romania.
The vessel was targeted while traveling from its port of origin, Latakia port in Syria, to Galati port in Romania.
Regarding the exact number of casualties from this incident, conflicting figures have been released by officials in the two countries. Initial reports from Ukrainian officials indicate that the ship’s captain was killed and three crew members were injured.
In contrast, official sources and media in Turkey have said that in addition to the captain, a local pilot also died in the attack, and 13 other crew members were injured.
