An Indonesian passenger ship in the Java Sea caught fire, killing at least 5 people. According to reports, another 40 people are missing. Rescue teams have saved more than 200 passengers. Efforts to find the missing are still ongoing. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

According to Indonesia’s National Search and Rescue Agency, the ship was traveling from the shores of Surabaya, the second-largest city in Indonesia, in East Java, toward Makassar in the south, when the captain contacted the management company and reported the incident. Based on this, the ship caught fire around 6–7 a.m. West Indonesia Time.
