A look ahead: the worst El Niño of the century is on the way
🔸 The UK’s National Meteorological Service predicted on Friday, 30 Mordad, that the El Niño weather pattern this year will be the worst in more than a century, and that sea-surface temperatures will be pushed to a level that is “unprecedented.”
🔸 El Niño occurs when sea temperatures in the eastern part of the tropical Pacific Ocean rise by half a degree Celsius above the usual average. This leads to changes in wind patterns, atmospheric pressure, and precipitation across the world, and generally increases the Earth’s temperature.
