🔻A grieving mother dolphin carried her dead calf’s body for several days. This dolphin, named “Fargol,” has lost four of its offspring one after another.

The non-profit research institute “Geograph Marine” in Australia, which captured these images, said that the fast breathing in this newborn dolphin was a sign of its low chances of survival.

In general, the birth of dolphins in winter puts their survival under hard challenges. Aerial drone images show that during this time, other dolphins gathered around the mother to support her.

Dolphins may carry the bodies of their children during a mourning period that sometimes lasts several days, but ultimately, in order to survive and feed, they have to let them go.
