🔶 3 executions in the United States over one day

On Thursday, August 13 (22 Mordad), three death sentences were carried out in three different states of the United States.

All three individuals who were executed had been convicted of murder, and the death sentences were carried out by lethal injection.

They were: Anthony Darryl Haynes, 66, in the state of Tennessee; Jeremy Williams, 41, in the state of Alabama; and Carlos Cuesta-Rodriguez, 71, in the state of Oklahoma. Notably, Anthony Haynes was arrested and convicted for murder in 1985.

The last time three condemned prisoners were executed in a single day in the United States was in 2010, i.e., sixteen years ago.

So far this year, 22 people have been executed in U.S. prisons, and only 12 of them were in the state of Florida. Out of 50 U.S. states, 23 have abolished the death penalty, and in three other states, a temporary halt (Moratorium) in carrying out sentences has been put in place. Donald Trump, the U.S. president, has called for further issuance and implementation of the death penalty.
