Apple Debuts iOS 18.2 Beta With Siri ChatGPT Integration and New AI Tools

Apple has released the developer beta of iOS 18.2, adding a new wave of artificial intelligence features to the iPhone experience. The update brings ChatGPT integration to Siri, allowing the assistant to handle more complex requests with the help of OpenAI’s technology. Apple is also introducing Genmoji, a feature that lets users create custom emojis, and Image Playground, an AI-powered tool for generating images.

The company says the new capabilities are designed with privacy in mind, relying heavily on on-device processing whenever possible. That approach is intended to keep personal data more secure while still enabling advanced AI functions. Apple is also expanding tools for developers through Apple Intelligence, giving app makers new ways to build AI features into their software.

The developer beta is available now, with a public beta expected soon. Apple plans a broader release of iOS 18.2 by December, marking another step in its push to make AI a central part of the iPhone platform. The update positions Apple to compete more directly with other tech companies that have already moved aggressively into generative AI.
