The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday condemned statements by Yemen’s Houthis against Saudi Arabia, including a threat to impose a maritime blockade, in a statement, and warned that this move could undermine freedom of navigation in the Red Sea.

The UAE called on the international community to implement UN Security Council resolutions, especially Resolution 2216 on Yemen and Resolution 2722 on freedom of navigation in the Red Sea, and emphasized its “full solidarity” with Saudi Arabia.

The Houthis had announced on Monday that they would carry out Saudi Arabia’s “maritime blockade.”
